INFO FOR YOUTH & JUNIOR COUNSELOR applicants
We need youth leaders!
Youth entering 7th grade and up make our camps shine
Many of our elementary-age campers say that hanging out with their Camp Counselors is their favorite part of Summer Camp. Youth bring energy, creativity, compassion for all our campers, and a fun-factor that kids love. Being a Camp Counselor is a great way to make a difference in your church community, be an inspiration and a leader, learn new skills, make friends, and show kids what it means to live out our UU values in a daily way.
There are two kinds of youth leaders at First Universalist Summer Camps:
Mandatory Counselor Training
1. Counselor Training for ALL Camp Counselors and Junior Counselors
All Camp Counselors and Junior Counselors who will work at any camps this summer MUST attend one of these half-day training sessions. Camp Counselors will be paid the regular hourly rate for their training time, too. Please put one of these dates on your calendar, and plan to attend the entire time!
Counselor Training dates and times:
2. Racial Justice Jam Training week
All youth applying to work at Racial Justice Jam Camp must be entering 9th-12th grade, or be high school graduates. In addition to being paid an hourly wage during the camp week, Racial Justice Jam Camp Counselors are required to attend the 4-day Racial Justice Jam Training week, for which they will receive a $150 stipend. The Racial Justice Jam Training will teach you everything you need to know to lead your campers -- just come prepared to learn and grow with us, and you'll be glad you did!
If you are not interested in being a Camp Counselor, you can still attend the Racial Justice Jam Training week! This will be a great experience for anyone entering 9th-12th grade. We'll be glad to have your voice, your ideas, your contributions, and your company as we engage in meaningful fun and games and enlightening conversations. There is no charge for you to participate. Just sign up below, and indicate that you will attend RJJ Training but do not want to work at the camp for elementary- and middle school-age campers the following week.

First Universalist Summer Camp leaders should enjoy and be willing to:
As there are a limited number of positions available, youth with more experience will be more likely to be selected. Youth entering 8th and 9th grade who have not previously worked at a Summer Camp or as a First Universalist childcare provider are encouraged to apply to be Junior Counselors, unless you bring other relevant work experience to the job. If you are in high school or college and need community service hours, you may choose to volunteer rather than be paid, but the process for applying and the job expectations are the same.
To apply to be a Camp Counselor or Junior Counselor, please complete the following form. Within five business days, you will receive an email confirming we have received your application. Those who are invited to interview will also be asked to provide three personal references. Interviews will begin in late March and continue until all positions are filled.
